Sunny Beach is the largest resort on Bulgaria Black Sea cost. Cuddled in a beautiful bay that in its southern part abuts the town of Nessebar – a unique monument of Bulgarian heritage, the resort reaches the southern slopes of Stara planina to the north. This extraordinary marriage of the sea and mountain generates an excellent climate favouring travel and tourism during the gratest part of the year.
Founded in 1959, the resort was judiciously located only 35 km away from Bulgaria’s largest industrial and tourist centre-Bourgas-and 30 km away from Bourgas Airport, the country’s most modern Airport.
NATURE AND CLIMATE
The flat landscape of Sunny Beach differs considerably from that of the rest of the large Black Sea resort. The sandy sea bottom slopes gently, hidding no unexpected depths. The beach strip is 5 500 m long and 40-50 m wide on the average, and consists of fine, homogeneous sand. Its western part a total surface of 86 hectares of dunes, is a national reserve. The average monthly temperatures during the tourist season does not exceed 25-26 °C and the average monthly humidity varies between 60-65%.
The period from June trough September is characterised by a minimum of cloudiness /3-4 days monthly/ and a maximum sanshine /22-25 days monthly/. The climate makes Sunny Beach a truly excellent place for travel and tourism, the duration of the tourist season being 6 months.
